The NI Pathway Squad is for 12-17 year old judo players that would like to progress to a higher level of performance and increase their skillset to meet the pre requisites for joining the Ni Talent programme and NI Performance team.

It involves travelling to a different location in N.Ireland each month to mix with other judo players from different clubs that have the same ambitions for progress.

The weekend saw session four hosted in Long Tower Youth Centre in Derry. These sessions are going from strength to strength and are ably lead by Jim Toland (Derry), Stephen McCluskey (Lisburn), Paul Price (Coleraine) and Josef Balogh (Portadown).

Following a substantial and progressive development programme with a specific lesson plan each time, the participants are engaging in a programme that will encourage technical excellence in all areas of judo and prepare the players for representative honours at their age group.

Supported by Russell Brown and Mark Donald at the NIJF, it is a pre cursor to the NI Talent development programme.

Many thanks to Quo Pro recruitment for providing financial support to this venture!
