Last weekend saw our competitive players take to the mats at the Foyle Arena for the 2024 Northern Ireland Championships.
Building on recent successes both locally and domestically, Ewan achieved his first NI Championship Gold medal. Three wins by ippon saw Ewan take Gold in the Senior Men's Under 66kg category, becoming NI Champion.
Conall also had three wins in the Junior men's Under 66kg category, cementing his No1 spot. Three tough fights against fellow NI Pathway squad members showed the 'strength in depth' created by the Pathway initiative.
Aodhan secured a bronze medal in his first year at a new age category. Some tough boy's to compete against and a few lessons learned. Aodhan followed all the instructions and we cannot ask anymore.
As with his peers, Aodhan is on an upward trajectory of steady progress and well on his way to the Gold medal.
Quinn was unable to attend due to injury at the recent British School's Championships in Sheffield.
Chris represented the masters category and had to compete in a higher weight category. He fought exceptionally well with great energy, but was overpowered by the heavier players.
A big shout out to John Murray for setting aside the time to coach The Judo Academy team at the event.
Well done to all!
